Looking back in the Old Testament, we can read about the account of Balaam. Balaam was not a prophet of God, but had spiritual power from under the wrong authority. Because of this power, he was bribed by the King of Moab to curse the Children of Israel. On his way to do so, he had an encounter from God, and was given a message to share. Part of that message is that no man can curse what God has blessed. Balaam’s plan was foiled, but he did not want to lose his money. Still with a heart of greed, he decided to have someone else go into the camp of the Children of Israel to deceive them into doing immoral things. In today’s society, we know that the devil cannot curse us because God has blessed us, but the Devil will still try to deceive us, and has tried to do so through the greed and fear of leaders. They are being bribed to deceive their own people. Hoping not to offend anyone out of fear of them leaving, unfollowing, or even wreaking havoc. They refuse to speak on the truth, and to stand up against today’s un-godly agenda. Listening to Pastor Dennis’ message, we can now understand as Christians, the difference between a leader, and a Balaam in our lives, so that we may not be deceived.
